There is Hope

After a long journey back from the West Bank, Israel, I began processing all I had seen during our visit. Concrete walls - 14ft. tall, military checkpoints, graffiti declaring jihad and protest against the West. Little children, playing in poverty on the streets of Ramallah and other West Bank villages. Young Palestinian boys standing idle on the street corners...no work. Reports from within Gaza of how bad the situation there had become since Hamas had taken control earlier this year. Everywhere it seemed hopeless.

But I also saw people...Palestinian people...born again Believers in Jesus Christ...they had hope. They were poor, yet rich in Christ. Most had not been able to find work, but they were rejoicing in the salvation of their Lord Jesus. They had found a true peace in the midst of turmoil. This is the work that God is doing among the Palestinians in the West Bank. Please continue to pray for them to stand strong in their faith and that their fellowships will be united to share the Gospel.

Final Day in Palestine

How fitting that today, as we began to say goodbye to some of our Believing friends, that we should visit a ancient monastery in the harsh Judean wilderness. Down near the Dead Sea, this Orthodox monastery has survived for over 1500 years, predating Islam and the Crusades. It is a perfect example of the struggle for the spiritual life to exist in this land where Jesus first came to the earth. The harsh landscapes and lack of water exleplify the religious climate in which we exist. It is a struggle for the souls and hearts of all who live here, Jew and Palestinian. With the last few years bringing only dispair and turmoil between the people of Israel, many wonder if there can ever be peace and joy. Can the sins of the past be forgiven and hope for the future?

Our days have been filled with activity and joy, visiting Believers who have been transformed from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. Please continue to pray for the Believers in this country and region that the Holy Spirit will continue to move and that the name of Jesus will be exalted in this land.

Pray for those in Chains

Today it is Saturday in Israel...Shabbot...Sabbath. Our day has been filled with joy, praise and heavy hearts. Today we visited with a Palestinian man named Babba... he is a Believer in Jesus Christ. He is also one of thousands of Believers in this country who are under severe persecution for their faith in Christ. His story, and many others like him is tragic for the fact that he is seperated from his family and those he loves, with little opportunity to visit or talk to them.

He has been in this position for several years now. Today as we visited, he didn't focus on his trials but rather, he was grateful to the Lord for allowing him to suffer on the Lord's behalf. He was truly an example of God's love and grace. During our visit there was several other men who were not Believers. We had the opportunity to share with them the Gospel of Jesus Christ and leave a special Book with them to read. They were full of questions and curious about this man's love, even in the face of such persecution. Please remember to pray for Babba and his friends.

Holy Friday

Dear Friends,
Today was Holy Friday...the Muslim Day of prayer here in Jerusalem and around the world. We too were praying...for them to find Jesus-Isa in Arabic. As we prayed, we also visited several that are sharing the gospel with Mulsim's in the city and surrounding regions of the WB. Pictured below-left is Paul and Pastor David with a husband and wife offering Bibles and Christian books to the thousands of Muslims that come out from the Al Asqa Mosque on the Temple Mount after Friday prayers.

In the afternoon we delivered humanitarian aid to a family where their daughter shared her incredible tetimony of how she came to Christ out of Islam. Listening to her story, we marveled to hear of God's divine grace and angelic protection. Now she is bold in her faith and is sharing her story with many other young people who are searching for truth and reality. Please continue to pray for us as we have outreaches planned tomorrow in two locations. We will also be visiting with those who are being severly persecuted for their faith in Christ.

Update - Holy Land Thursday May 1

Today was a long day of driving and travel...to visit Believers in Israel and the West Bank. In a slight change of plans, we left Jerusalem yesterday morning and headed out from Bet Shan, through the the old city of Jericho and across the Jordan river to the city of Amman, Jordan!

After visiting Believers in this city last night, we began our journey back home this morning. After a wonderful breakfast of lavash bread and lamb (Paul Dorr - picture left) we headed out

After hours of driving...and waiting three hours at the Israeli border to be processed.. we just arrived back in Jerusalem this afternoon.

Calvary Chapel pastor David Landry and MI co-director David LeCompte (pictured left)are enjoying their travel together and the Lord is blessing their time. Tomorrow we have many plans here in Jerusalem and the West bank. Please continue to pray for us.

Update from the Holy Land

Hello from Israel and the West Bank. Our first two days here have begun with non-stop activity.
Our feet have had no rest since we touched down at Israel’s airport in Tel Aviv.

Our first evening we were invited to attend a Palestinian Christian wedding engagement party in the birthplace of our Lord Jesus - Bethlehem, West Bank. What a great time everyone had, especially the family of the bride.

Having just come from the volatile region of Gaza, the family and Believers were so full of joy at God’s protection and Grace that allowed them to pass safely through the difficult situations that continue to plague this part of the world. Attending this special wedding engagement, Mi co-director David LeCompte, CC pastor David Landry and MI missionary Paul Dorr were privileged to share with the Abu family in this special event.

Upcoming Mission Trip to Israel...

David LeCompte the Co-Director of Mission International (MI) will be visiting our missionaries Paul & Nancy Dorr in Israel.

The trip will be from April 27th until May 5th.

Excited to be joined by Pastor Dave Landry of Calvary Chapel of Casa Grande in Arizona - we ask you to pray with us for the effectiveness and the fruit that will come from this mission. Pastor Dave & David will be linking up with the Dorr family & will minister among the somewhat forgotten Palestinian people living in the West Bank of Israel. They will also be encouraging our brothers & sisters living there who can face such tremendous resistance when sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Paul Dorr (above left - pictured here in Jerusalem with David LeCompte - right) has been serving this area of the world for many years. He and his wife Nancy have just recently joined Mission International full-time. Check back on the MI Blogs during this time for further updates & photos from Pastor Dave, David LeCompte and the Dorr family which will come in directly from the Holy Land!
